More Beach!

Today Abby was being a surfer girl at the lake. Hal and I were pulling her to make waves on the boogie board.

New look for the blog

Blogger, the platform I use to make Abby's blog, recently changed a few things so I did too! There is a lot of change going on around here. New carpet, new paint, new arrangement of furniture. Abby's favorite color is BLUE so I went with a blue theme. It is a little easier on the eyes than the pink one! Hope you like it!-Rachel

The Blueberry Hunt

Abby took a BIG hike to the top of Blue Mountain yesterday!

Abby was supposed to be picking them and putting the berries in her bag but they all ended up in her mouth.

Abby and I stopped by my school's little prom Friday for some dancing
and to see my students all dressed up. Abby was the prom princess.
I heard she even got a few votes for Prom Queen!

The Smith's got Abby an alphabet wipe board as part of her birthday
present. Abby uses it to "practice her letters". She pretends she
is teaching school with it.

There's a beach?!

We went back to Jim Thorpe today and found a BEACH! It was
beautiful. It only took Abby about 4 minutes to jump in. She said
the water was freezing but she waded for about 20 minutes! Pictures

Happy Birthday Jim Thorpe

We went up to Glen Onoko yesterday to hike. Abby did the first 1-2
miles by herself which was amazing because it was a rock scramble! I
carried her the rest of the way up in the ergo pack and then she
walked most of the way down! At the top we ate lunch at a swimming
hole which Abby tried to swim in but the water was REALLY COLD! She
dropped her apple here and it floated downstream and then over a huge
waterfall!

After hiking we went to town. The train isn't running yet but they
were testing the engines. It is the weekend of Jim Thorpe's birthday
celebration so they had lots of live music, a clown, and native
american dancing. Abby, Hal, and I got in the friendship circle.
(Irony of ironies, I was wearing my Cheif Illiniwek t-shirt!)
